Financial Officer Practice

Working across industries, Spencer Stuart's Financial Officer Practice helps client organizations recruit exceptional finance leaders --including Chief Financial Officers, Treasurers, Controllers, division CFOs and heads of tax and audit. In North America, the Financial Officer Practice leads approximately 600 executive searches per year for clients ranging from Fortune 50 companies to entrepreneurial startups. Our clients include leading, blue chip companies, emerging technology players, universities and non-profits. We have 16 dedicated search consultants in North America (45 globally) with longstanding, personal relationships with the most sought-after leaders in finance. Position Summary

The Financial Officer Practice (FOP) Analyst will be responsible for developing significant content and producing industry and/or functional analysis reports to support search engagements, special projects, and new business initiatives. To accomplish this, the analyst will gather, synthesize, make recommendations and present information. He/she will also pay a significant role in knowledge creation within the firm, including responsibility for research projects building Spencer Stuart's knowledge of executive talent within industries and companies. In addition, the analyst may have opportunities to engage and contribute to intellectual capital pieces on behalf of the Practice.

Over time, the FOP Analyst is expected to develop in-depth knowledge of the financial function specialties; gaining this expertise includes understanding the implications of current news and issues, becoming familiar with executive leadership across a range of companies, and understanding market influences. He/she will develop a deep understanding of leadership, expertise in a segment of the industry and a sophisticated skill set in the areas of research, problem-solving, project management, and communication. The FOP Analyst is mentored by leaders in the practice within an apprenticeship model of learning.

This is a full-time role located in Spencer Stuart's San Francisco office.

Ideal Experience

We are eager to hear from recent graduates (1-2 years of work experience) or members of the Class of 2017 interested in exploring professional services opportunities within the field of executive search. Applicants should have majored in liberal arts, business, or related fields of study and evince a well-roundedness, including significant leadership experience. A 3.5+ GPA is desired.

The successful candidate is someone who is self-directed, independent and able to proactively address the needs of the practice. Outstanding candidates will have demonstrated a passion and ability for performing critical research and communicating their findings clearly and cogently. They will be graceful under pressure, enjoy fast paced environments, and be excellent multitaskers.

Compensation and benefits are commensurate with other high-end professional services firms.
