IT Business Analyst

Serves as the liaison between Information Technology (IT) and an assigned business unit working directly with middle and Senior Management; builds and maintains relationships with all levels of Speedway Management and determines business requirements related to the selection and implementation of new technology; keeps abreast of developing technology trends related to their assigned organization


  • Liaises between IT and business units to gather business requirements; provides support and transparency
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends new technologies to drive enhancements for the assigned business clients
  • Manages and documents all business requirements for project work in conjunction business client
  • Ensures each project meets defined needs and resolves issues accordingly
  • Works with Management of assigned business unit to ensure the Company is leveraging technology to maximize efficiencies as a Company
  • Develops inputs used in the return on investment (ROI) models, and makes recommendations based on these results
  • Establishes and cultivates relationships with technology vendors related to assigned business client; attends industry conferences and networking events to keep abreast of technology related trends
  • Develops and maintains road maps for future technology needs
  • Advises and guides business units in the process of developing system enhancements, ideas and work requests
  • Captures potential benefits to assist with prioritization
  • Reviews and documents business processes; recommends and implements changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participates in the capital budgeting development and ensuring optimal deployment of resources
  • Collaborates closely with IT Architects to design optimal technical solutions to meet business needs while aligning with IT strategies
  • Develops and presents concepts and business cases. Makes recommendations to Management accordingly
  • Completes other duties, including special projects, as assigned by Management

Minimum Requirements

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent

If Degreed, preferred Major: Computer Science, MIS, Business, or related field

Work Experience Desired:
  • Experience with MS SharePoint desired
  • Detailed knowledge of assigned Speedway applications/systems
  • Strong ability with requirements definition and management
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations

Skill Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise with Word, Excel and other MS Office suite applications
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong facilitation skills for requirement elicitation and management communications
  • Excellent understanding of client operations and systems
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to research and resolve complex issues
  • Positive, professional attitude and adaptive to change
  • Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple initiatives and rapidly changing priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive the optimal return on investment (ROI)
  • Ability to multi-task and track multiple efforts concurrently
  • Understanding of organizational change management (OCM) to assist with adoption of system changes
  • Ability to perform repeated bending, standing and reaching
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
