As a highly valued, contributing software engineer on the Charter Wireless R&D team, you will help shape the next generation cloud based IoT and PLTE solutions . Our team develops solutions to quickly solve unique challenges faced by the Charter IoT delivery teams. We architect, build, and deliver strategic, targeted solutions in a rapidly evolving environment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Code and perform unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution while adhering to business and technical requirements.
Code, test, debug, and enhance software and write programs according to specifications.
Participate in code review sessions to validate adherence with development standards.
Develop and maintain technical documentation.
Provide system analysis and improvement recommendations.
Identify and recommend system designs/requirements for software enhancements with senior team members.
Participate in continuous performance improvement sessions to discuss opportunities to improve processes and/or standards.
Coordinate with technical teams to analyze and resolve software related problems causing operational difficulties, advising on specialized features and functions.
Follow established configuration/change control processes.
Ensure the software architecture is lean, extensible, and well documented
Ensure software modules are reliable and reusable
Integrate with metrics and auditing systems to inform on health and usage
Work with team to evaluate workload.
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Experience with Amazon Web Services AWS.
Experience working with DevOps engineers to build and deploy infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies.
Experience with software revision control Git.
Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks like cypress.io and jestjs.io.
Strong understanding of Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
Strong understanding with infrastructure automation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with programming languages (Java, Python).
Strong experience with building APIs and services using prevailing design models (REST, SOAP).
Knowledge of object design, design patterns, and algorithms.
Experience developing multi-threaded applications for networking, web services, HTTP, and TCP/IP.
Strong understanding of high-volume, real time processing.
Good communicator; able to analyze and clearly articulate complex issues and technologies understandably and engagingly.
Great design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for architecting at scale.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership. Systematic investigation and eliminating variability of issues.
Large-scale systems software design and development experience and working knowledge of Unix/Linux.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay careful attention to detail.
Able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
BSc in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
MSc is preferred
