The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for the design and build of learning interactions within Charter's Small and Medium Size Business (SMB) sales training programs. In this role you will produce a variety of learning interactions: e-Learn, classroom or online, to enable a specific learning experience that reinforces business-centric behavior requirements .

You will collaborate with business partners and others to develop learning solutions. This includes participation in collaborative design sessions with Subject Matter Experts to understand the business and learning requirements.

You will ensure the learning solutions are engaging, memorable and effective. Working with the Training Delivery team, you will validate that the learning solutions created deliver the intended learning experience.


  • Create learning solutions that are innovative, highly engaging, and that utilize the most advanced techniques and technology available, with a demonstrable impact on business results
  • Create quality learning solutions designed for self-guided (e-Learning) consumption or Instructor Lead Training (ILT) materials for trainers to meet the needs of the supported audience
  • Partner with the business to create clear learning objectives in support of business goals
  • Apply business skills to managing projects and coordinating with subject matter experts while building learning solutions
  • Conduct reviews of training materials to ensure learning objectives are met
  • Provide enhancements and revisions to existing materials based on Subject Matter Experts(SME)/Stakeholder feedback
  • Maintain current knowledge of latest industry tools and processes
  • Collaborate with your Manager and Business Leadership to create and deliver quality training
  • Actively participate in and/or facilitate in-person or virtual meetings as needed to support learning projects
  • Maintain accurate status of projects, milestones, and tasks in the team project tracking tool
  • Facilitate in-person or virtual "train the trainer" sessions
  • Diagnose and escalate risks of design projects to appropriate Business Leadership
  • Collaborate with leadership team and business subject matter experts to design large-scale, engaging learning that enhances business performance, with minimal support
  • Develop storyboards to support e-Learning design
  • Manage all functions of e-Learning design, including storyboarding, scripting, assessment, and multi-media inclusion
  • Create and implement evaluation plans to demonstrate business impact of training initiatives
  • Achieve and model team quality standards in all aspects of learning design while managing 3-5 projects at a time
  • Design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners
  • Manage external resources to maximize cost effectiveness and quality
  • Apply business skills to managing instructional design
  • Promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among the participants of a project
  • Serve as a mentor and/or knowledge resource to less experienced designers
  • Model the adoption of ongoing improvements in team processes and standards
  • Develop partner relationships with SMEs and stakeholders to ensure that training meeting expectations beyond initial implementation
  • Perform other duties as requested


Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Experience creating content for Self-Guided Training (e-learning) or Instructor Lead Training (ILT) using one of the following digital learning technologies: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia
  • Proficiency in advanced and emerging digital learning tools, delivery methods, and platforms
  • Able to provide guidance and support to others on using designated technology to perform tasks
  • Demonstrate an ability to work closely with peers to ensure successful learning outcomes
  • Develop technical skills to increase personal capabilities, speed, and quality of learning interactions
  • Skilled in multimedia curriculum development, as well as graphic design, video editing, and animation
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
  • Comfortable communicating with all levels of management and company personnel, including Executives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • BA/BS in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Communications or related field required

Related Work Experience
  • 2+ years' experience designing E-learning programs using Articulate StoryLine or Adobe Captivate


Skills /Abilities and Knowledge

  • 4+ years experience in Instructional Design
  • Specialized training in instructional design methodologies preferred
  • K nowledge of cable television products and services
