As a Principal Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you develop computing strategies, including cloud adoption plans, application design, management and monitoring. You ensure the necessary security requirements are in place to protect the organization's business processes while providing support for application architecture and deployment in cloud environments. You are an expert in public, private and hybrid cloud environments and have solid knowledge of the company's cloud architecture and platform.

You offer guidance to development teams on infrastructure and recommend systems to accomplish business goals. You collaborate with organizational stakeholders to identify and prioritize critical business functions. You excel working in an office environment with team members across the organization. You report to the Director of Platform Architecture, Application Development, Data Engineering & Platform Engineering for guidance and assistance.

What you will do:

  • Be an impactful member for the Spectrum Enterprise team by supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
  • Provide technical direction and solutions to architectural, development and operational teams on assigned projects to ensure accurate and on time project completion.
  • Maintain and improve an assigned technology domain by designing and providing support to the organization's application systems, components and infrastructure.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance efforts for application systems and information system development by leading the creation of architectural frameworks.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to create road maps for applications, align development plans and ensure effective integration among application systems, information systems and infrastructure.
  • Ensure the success of new approaches and platforms by formulating the criteria and executing proofs-of-concept.
  • Understand the interaction between systems, applications and services within the assigned environment to effectively evaluate the impact of changes, additions and decommissions.
  • Analyze systems and determine the exact testing necessary to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability and meet security requirements.
  • Drive long-term technical solutions by defining and developing technology strategies, technical standards, roadmaps and practices.
  • Mitigate risks by addressing issues relating to systems integration, compatibility and multiple platform integration.
  • Lead collaborations with business and technical teams to review conflicts and gaps between functional goals and existing capabilities.
  • Assist executive management with defining enterprise project prioritization by participating in the planning phase.
  • Enhance efficiency company-wide by providing technical assistance to development and operations project teams on new system projects and existing systems while providing formal skills development and informal mentoring to other team members.
  • Continuously improve projects and systems by developing and documenting best practices for code development, API design, version control, test automation and build automation.
  • Review project code trees for compliance with best practices through collaboration with development managers and project teams.

Required keys for success:

  • Ten years of cumulative experience with system installation, configuration, operation, software development or database development.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technology and business issues.
  • Inquisitive nature and eager to explore new concepts and approaches.
  • Confidence when presenting to peers and senior management within the organization.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with ability to listen to multiple points of view and synthesize against goals for recommendations.
  • Sound business sense with the ability to prioritize and plan multiple projects and tasks.
  • History of making sound decisions and resolving issues while working under pressure.
  • Sense of urgency to achieve business results.
  • Advanced knowledge of software development and delivery, including cloud computing, containerization, high-availability, mobile apps, big data and machine learning.
  • In-depth understanding of coding and business processes design and functionality.
  • Track record of effectively presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with business owners and key stakeholders.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication skills with all levels of an organization.

How you will stand out from the crowd:

  • Three or more years of cloud architect Experience in cloud environments, such as the public, private and hybrid clouds.
  • Solid knowledge of designing and developing dynamic Cloud solutions and moving parts involved in continuous integration and delivery.
  • Expert in guiding development teams regarding infrastructure, computer network defense and Enterprise architecture, including cloud services.
  • Adept at building and maintaining relationships across organizational teams.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise architecture principles and methodologies.

Your education:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or MIS, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (required).
  • Master's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Red Hat OpenShift - Specialist (preferred).
  • AWS Solution Architect - Professional (preferred).
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect (preferred).
  • Azure MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure (preferred).
