Hotel Manager

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manages the operations of Guest Services and ensures the achievement of hotel quality standards
  • Receives guest concerns and ensures corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction
  • Develops and manages clear administrative guidelines and ensures these are adhered to throughout all hotel operations
  • Develops with each key manager/supervisor clearly defined departmental objectives which focus on and support achievement of the overall mission of the hotel
  • Accepts responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all guests and team members of the hotel


  • Manages the hotel budget
  • Ensures and maintains procedures for security of monies, guest security and emergency procedures
  • Oversees procedures for hotel accounting, credit control and handling of financial transactions
  • Monitors and reports variances against budget and related expenses
  • Develops and adheres to annual action plan/ capital project list
  • Manages all key managers and supervisors in carrying out their operational responsibilities and tasks, coordinating efforts and establishing priorities, as necessary
  • Delegates projects and tasks as appropriate, establishing clear objectives and time-line requirements
  • Analyzes and provides advice to managers and supervisors methods and approaches to resolve operational and team member concerns/issues
  • Interviews, selects, train, coaches, counsels and evaluates the performance of direct reports


  • [3+] years directly related experience in a hotel setting
  • [2] years demonstrated supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in relevant field preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in industry systems and software -- accounting, Roommaster, Seriousware, Visual One, Delphi, Meeting Matrix, etc.
