The Hotel at the University of Maryland is a top-notch boutique hotel in a completely new building, with right-from-the-shelf equipment and appliances -- just a pleasure to work with! The HUMD team will be a 150+ people helping with the opening of the hotel and pioneering operations on the new grounds.

What you will be doing:

  • Maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of floor closets
  • Transporting any Room Service trays/items in guest hallways to service elevator landings
  • Inspecting condition of all furniture for tears, rips and stains and reporting damages to Housekeeping Supervisor
  • Inspecting condition of planters and plants; removing debris, polish planters
  • Emptying trash containers, ashtrays and ash urns in all assigned areas
  • Removing trash; debris and cobwebs from all assigned areas
  • Providing timely delivery of any items requested by guests. Retrieving items from guest rooms and return to proper storage areas
  • Making up cribs and rollaway beds; transporting to designated rooms
  • Stocking Housekeeping department supplies
  • Assisting Lobby Attendant as assigned

What you will bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years demonstrated cleaning/housekeeping experience, preferably in a hospitality environment
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling
  • Previous guest relations training
  • Ability to lift/transport at least 75 pounds
  • Push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to reach above head and shoulder height to perform job duties
  • Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 or more hours in length
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compute basic arithmetic and mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and guest satisfaction
