Director, Product Marketing

At Socotra, we are focused on re-imagining and re-inventing technology for one of the world’s largest and most technologically neglected industries. Our team is building the first fully data-integrated software solution for insurance companies, and our vision is to become the technology platform that powers insurance businesses everywhere. We'd like you to join us in the revolution.

Socotra is the first and only core insurance platform to offer a modern answer: The only one that is cloud-native, the only one with real transparency, the only one customers can test drive before they buy. These attributes are common to platforms in other industries, from CRM to online advertising, and Socotra brings them to one of the world’s largest and most critical industries. The impact can’t be bigger, and the rewards can’t be bigger.

As a Director of Product Marketing hires at Socotra, you will play a critical role within the organization in defining and amplifying the Socotra story, and creating messaging that connects with our customer base. This role reports directly to the Head of Marketing.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A storyteller. You have deep empathy for customers and are able to adapt how you communicate to best reach and engage your audience—from developer to CEO—and differentiate Socotra
  • Analytical. You enjoy working with data, and are capable of pairing that with your passion for customers in order to generate balanced and thoughtful insights for how to take our products to market
  • Pragmatic. You exercise the skill of understanding goals, and using evidence and intellectual honesty to drive outcomes; continually weighing effort, costs, and expected results
  • Able to drive prioritization. You are able to weigh multiple initiatives against each other and evaluate which ones we should prioritize and invest in based on data and instinct
  • Comfortable with public speaking. You have experience representing the company in webinars, conference panels, and analysts meetings
  • Organized. You are able to manage highly interdependent, complex projects and keep various workstreams on track
  • Passionate about technology. You are keen to learn about how things work and are able to explain technical concepts in ways that everyday people can understand
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity. You thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic, startup environment and are able to operate fluidly between the 30,000-foot strategy level and the micro-detail to get things right
  • A team player. You will collaborate across multiple teams at Socotra (from Product to Sales). You are able to work with people from a range of disciplines to execute on your work
  • A self starter. You are good at self-managing against deadlines you’ve set
  • Output driven. You are focused on delivering and being measured by results

Examples of things you'll work on:

  • Drive messaging and marketing strategy for new feature launches
  • Explore different messaging and tactics for various customer segments (e.g., life vs P&C) and submarkets (e.g., personal auto, commercial insurance)
  • Manage relationships with industry research analysts
  • Lead webinars to evangelize Socotra
  • Establish our partner marketing program
  • Coordinate Socotra’s presence at industry conferences and secure speaking opportunities
  • Drive Program strategy for Socotra-hosted and attended events
  • Create customer case studies for our website and for use in sales meetings
  • Build sales collateral for conferences (e.g., 1-pagers)
  • Help us continue to build PMM team culture and processes—be it better ways to measure success, communicate as a team, share learnings, plan cross-functionally, and more

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience that can span brand marketing, product marketing, product management, sales, operational roles, or strategy consulting
  • At least 7+ years of technology product marketing; experience working in enterprise SaaS, FinTech, or platform companies is essential
  • At least 1+ year of experience serving in a Director of Product Marketing
  • Experience in B2B marketing and working closely with sales teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • Top-tier health benefits
  • Fitness Stipend
  • Yoga classes on Monday and Friday!
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Competitive Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA) for Dental and Vision
  • Geo Blue / Supplemental International Travel Insurance for Business or Leisure Travel

This position can be based in San Francisco or remote and includes salary and equity commensurate with experience and location.
