We are hiring a Principal Product Design Architect for our Product Design team. This is our most senior designer role at Slack. We're looking for someone who can define strategy, prototype product visions, and collaborate across Slack's product organization to bring the vision to market - all while setting the bar for design excellence at Slack. A bit about Slack Design. Slack designers serve a vital role at the company, from creating the vision for new features to the craft and finish of every detail in the product. We appreciate designers who think deeply, speak clearly, and embrace collaboration and feedback. We do this all while abiding by a powerful set of product principles that enable us to design and build products that people love, in teams across the globe.
What you'll be doing
- Collaborate with Slack's most senior product and design leaders - including our CEO - to drive product vision and strategy for Slack, via design
- Create prototypes that enable Slack to explore our product visions, in real time, with real data. We believe there is no better way to assess a product's design other than via its use, and your prototypes will enable this
- Slack is organized into product pillars, each of which are responsible for large strategies and product surfaces. You will drive complex design initiatives that span across multiple pillars
- Collaborate within the design team on systemic initiatives such as evolving our design system, our mobile design practices, and our prototyping process
- Help guide, improve, and implement design and feedback processes
- Be an active mentor for other designers
- Recruit and interview designers, and actively improve our inclusive design hiring process
- Be a vocal and public proponent for Slack design, help build our design community
- 10+ years of extensive experience in a leading individual contributor role, on a product design team for desktop or mobile
- An outstanding portfolio, showcasing a foundation in typography, interaction and visual design, marketing design, and idea generation
- A track record of mentoring designers and design teams towards top performance
- Experience working and collaborating with diverse teams in a dynamic, rapid growth environment
- Extensive experience closely partnering with product managers to develop the strategy and rationale for features
- Extensive experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bonus - proficient in mobile and web technologies. Can personally build on Slack's tech stack

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $194,400 to $296,600.
For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $213,900 to $355,900.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $213,900 to $355,900.
For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $194,400 to $326,300.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
