Head of Sales, UK

The Head of Sales, UK is a vital part of the management team for Slack’s broader sales organization. This role leads the strategy and execution for our account executive team to ensure the successful go-to-market sales approach with our Enterprise customers. This role focuses exclusively on the large customer segment (Enterprise). The focus of this role is to be a coach and strategic planner for a team of account executives (AEs) within a new, key market for Slack: UK. Another key part of this role is meeting and engaging with our customers and key executives to help sell the vision and value of Slack.

You will understand your account executives’ roles, processes and paths to success and help define this within the broader sales organization. You will also work with our strategic customers to understand their business objectives and act as their trusted consultant and advisor on how Slack is a great solution for their business. At a team level, the team will gather sales challenges and customer requests while working with internal teams to help align our sales approach with our product roadmap and product marketing. You will ensure your team successfully drives forward Slack’s key performance metrics. Additionally, you will work effectively and collaboratively with other managers and leaders across the broader sales organization to drive success for both customers and Slack.

This role needs to communicate effectively across multiple departments, have the ability to shift gears at a moment's notice, and enjoys the challenges of providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Account Executive team so each account executive can succeed
  • Coach, train and develop a team of account executives
  • Hire and build a team that wins together, has fun and lives the Slack values
  • Develop and revise Slack’s sales strategy for the UK market
  • Prioritise where we invest our resources and efforts with customers
  • Drive the team towards key performance metrics and goals
  • Help define the key value propositions we pitch to customers
  • Monitor and identify sales challenges for the team and customers
  • Collect and summarise sales challenges from customers and account executives
  • Manage the team to effectively present Slack’s value proposition in the market
  • Identify customer needs and collaborate with other internal teams to ensure we are driving sales and deals

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of direct sales experience, preferably within a SaaS organization
  • 4+ years of management experience, preferably within a SaaS organization
  • Excellent communication skills both with customers and within an organization
  • Strong track record of identifying and understanding customer needs and successfully implementing long-term software solutions
  • Strong track record of defining and executing against key performance indicators
  • Local market expertise and a network of connections to candidates, customers, partners and key stakeholders within the local market
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with a customer success team
  • Ability to challenge team members and be challenged to achieve team goals
  • Proactive interest to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships
  • Comfortable and willing to be a hands-on contributor, on-site with customers
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS vendors preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required
