SkyePoint Decisions, Inc. is a rapidly growing company seeking a highly motivated Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end payroll preparation, review, issuance, and reconciliation as well as ensuring compliance with Federal and State tax requirements. You will work closely with the Accounting Department, HR Department, and CFO while operating as the primary point of contact for payroll related inquiries. Successful applicants will possess payroll experience, exceptional work ethic, an extremely high level of attention to detail, respect for confidentiality, and demonstrated experience collaborating with others across all disciplines of a corporate environment.

This will be a hybrid position with 2 days in the Dulles, VA office. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and timely prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for two pay groups utilizing the Paycor payroll application
  • Work in close consultation with HR department to determine payroll inputs and changes
  • Prepare Unanet time export file and import into Paycor for payroll
  • Prepare payroll including salaried/hourly pay, expense reimbursements, bonus payments, and pay adjustments due to LWOP, LOA, and Military Duty
  • Create earnings and deduction codes as required to support payroll and apply to employees as appropriate
  • Generate payroll preview register and reconcile to labor distribution in advance of issuing payroll
  • Prepare 401(k) deduction and loan files and ensure appropriate payments are issued to the 401(k) provider
  • Perform analyses and reconciliations to ensure payroll accuracy including labor and benefits
  • Validate payroll G/L for posting in the financial system
  • Initiate and maintain State business and tax registrations and compliance meeting statutory regulations as required based on employee population
  • Retrieve and reconcile all tax reports on a quarterly basis
  • Process garnishments and liens
  • Create on-demand pay for any approved actions outside of the standard payroll cycle
  • Mail pay statements to employees as necessary
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve issues or concerns
  • Consistently identify and implement opportunities to improve the payroll process

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience processing payroll
  • Experience using Unanet is highly preferred
  • Payroll certification preferred such as Certified Payroll Professional from American Payroll Association
  • Expert level attention to detail with strong analytical and organization skills
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience using Paycor is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present confidently and effectively to employees, leadership, and auditors
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentially
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in an environment of multiple responsibilities
  • Able to independently problem-solve and make sound financial decisions
