Studio Operations Manager

The Bally Sports Regional Networks serving the southeast (collectively, Bally Sports South & Southeast) are the television home of the Atlanta Braves, Hawks, United and Dream; the Nashville Predators, Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Hurricanes and ACC.

Bally Sports South is seeking a Manager of Studio Operations to join their Atlanta, GA based production department. The position is responsible for oversight of studio-based operations including studio producer, director, and staff editors. The Manager of Studio Operations is also responsible for line producing select dates of pregame, halftime, and postgame shows for Bally Sports South & Southeast's NBA and MLB team partners.

Duties include scheduling and managing a staff of live room editors, as well as the lead studio producer and director. The Manager of Studio Operations will also be responsible for administering technology into studio-based projects, such as touchscreen and augmented reality. The Manager of Studio Operations will proactively interface with the production staff of the Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast regional sports networks for resources, support, and to deliver feedback on talent and crew. The position will report to the Coordinating Producer. This role is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Responsibilities
  • The Manager of Studio Operations must be able to lead the studio-based production crew. This position schedules editor support for each studio program, and works in conjunction with the Coordinating Producer on producer and director schedules for studio events.
  • Supervise and develop staff Associate Producers and Production Assistants; Provide feedback on technical crews.
  • Line produce assigned shows, accurately timing each program, and guide talent and crew through shows seamlessly. While on air, provide content direction and timing to talent on productions, and coordinate with Master Control to accurately manage on-air transitions to and from commercial breaks.
  • Ensure accurate execution of all required sponsored elements, marketing drops, and other network-driven initiatives within assigned shows.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of cutting-edge aesthetics of studio and live television presentation. Must collaborate with directors on studio shot composition, lighting, and utilizing set technology in creative ways.
  • Work with Engineers and Coordinating Producers to refine studio workflows, recommend equipment upgrades, and provide feedback, with new capabilities and efficiencies top of mind.
  • Communicate regularly with Coordinating Producers to recognize crew/production assistant successes, report any concerns, and for creative/editorial input.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • The ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Previous broadcast television production experience, with emphasis on line producing live programs and communicating effectively with talent and crew, is preferred. The ability to properly and accurately time a live production is required.
  • Experience directing studio programs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of television studio environments, including the ability to work flexible hours is necessary. Experience in the remote truck production environment is also necessary.
  • A base knowledge and understanding of all studio production equipment and technology is needed.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of touchscreen, augmented reality, or Liberovision tools are a plus.
  • Knowledge of and passion for NBA basketball, NHL hockey & Major League Baseball is required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as a team leader are also necessary.
  • Good organizational, time management, and communication skills are required. The ability to work under pressure with limited supervision is also required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is needed.
