WEYI-WSMH TV, the NBC & FOX affiliates in Flint, Michigan, are looking for an experienced sports anchor and reporter. Qualified candidates must share our vision of producing and reporting coverage of sports that stands out as being informative and entertaining for fans and non-fans alike. We cover all Michigan professional teams (Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings), semi-pro (Loons, Warriors), college (University of Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, SVSU, Mott CC), motor sports (NASCAR, IndyCar), local prep sports and community events (Crim Festival of Races).

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of one year experience anchoring and reporting sports for a commercial TV station. You must have a passion for going beyond scores and highlights and telling real stories. A college degree in journalism or related field is required. Strong writing, photography, and nonlinear editing skills are a must. We are looking for someone who can create memorable stories, has a strong work ethic, time management and live shot skills. Demonstrated knowledge of how to position great content on air and on website-mobile-social media platforms is required. You must work well independently and as part of a team in a high energy, creative and collaborative environment. We are looking for a strong team player with competitive drive who upholds high journalistic and ethical standards, under deadline pressure.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Covering day-to-day sporting events and sports features on a variety of platforms, including on air, website, social media, and mobile
  • One year of daily TV sports anchoring and reporting is required
  • This position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Determining content and flow of sports segments, shows, and specials
  • Experience operating digital cameras and nonlinear editors
  • You must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record
