KOMO/KUNS TV in Seattle, WA is looking for a Senior Meteorologist for forecasting across multiple platforms (TV, social, digital and OTT products).

Do you develop your weather forecasts with attention to unique storytelling each day? Do you embrace creating new graphics and elements to support each day's weather story? Have you accepted that just adding data and numbers in the same maps and forecast pages each day is a thing of the past?

As a Senior Meteorologist, you will be responsible for the content of the unique weather forecasts across platforms. You must accept and embrace contemporary approaches to forecasting on broadcast as well as creative and focused forecasts for digital, social and OTT products. This position will require that you work closely with the chief meteorologist to ensure the entire weather team is delivering on current expectations for forecasting. You will also be tasked with a leading role across platforms in breaking and severe weather situations.

In addition, your duties include forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weathercasts- which tell a story and connect with local viewers, developing content and graphics for on-air, web and social media, making public appearances on behalf of the station, working with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations, doing live shots and reporting from community events and in breaking weather events.

Standout candidates will have:

  • A proven track record of developing a "forecast driven" hyper-local presentation in every weathercast every day.
  • Extensive experience in a leading role during severe and breaking weather coverage across platforms.
  • A proven track record of tracking severe and inconvenient weather events using all available technology during every event.
  • Demonstrated experience in social and digital engagement with consumers daily.
  • A proven ability to create unique and special graphics that support your unique forecasts each day.
  • Extensive experience with WSI weather systems
This is not an entry-level position. Previous on-air experience presenting weather and news information is required.
