Sinclair Broadcast Group's DC Bureau is looking for a producer. We're looking for a driven, self-starter field producer/segment producer to join our team. The ideal candidate is aggressive about covering news in all formats and an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with excellent people skills, able to take on just about any role. This position requires a broad and current knowledge of national politics, national and world events and a passion for finding new and compelling ways to showcase Sinclair correspondents and the stories they cover. This producer will create content for the entire station group, while serving the specific needs for corporate news programs.

Day-to-day immediate responsibilities:

  • Check-in with correspondents and bureau chief on days needs
  • Anticipate and work with correspondents on their needs
  • Run live grids with correspondents and photographers
  • Log video, write to logged video
  • Set up interviews and understands subject matter when going on interviews
  • Help pull videos for correspondents
  • Work with correspondents from start to finish to get their package ready for distribution
  • Work on long term research and archive projects.
  • Develop vast contact list in and around Capitol Hill
  • Become sourced at various agencies and departments in and around Washington
  • Will learn to shoot interviews and b-roll with bureau equipment
  • Set-up and conduct interviews for correspondent stories as MMJ
  • Learn to use bureau editing software
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have working knowledge of daily and weekly news events where sound may be used for packages, understands how to request video from CNN and our affiliate stations
  • Ability to prioritize coverage needs in the field is a must
  • Knowledge of protocols and logistics of news gathering in and around the Capitol complex is a big plus
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in television or multimedia news gathering, along with a proven ability to execute under deadline
  • Must be able to write, produce, edit video, and make sound content decisions on the fly
