Director of Engineering

The Opportunity:

Shutterstock Inc. seeks a Director of Engineering in New York, NY to communicate cross-functionally across various teams as well as with internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts.


  • Master’s degree in Information Technology and Management, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience designing and developing front-end interfaces, underlying APIs, and back-end systems across different programming languages.

  • Prior experience must include two (2) years analyzing and improving test-driven development and pair programming methodologies; defining and improving codebase; resolving technical issues; working with build deployment tools including Jenkins, Jira, Github; performing continuous integration and deployment in Dev/QA and Production environments; utilizing Unit tests, Integration tests, and Automation test suites including Nightwatch, Behavior Driven Development, Sonarqube, Cobertura, and Findbugs to manage code quality across the code base; working with Java, Ruby, Spring, Perl, NodeJS, Groovy, Ansible, and Memcache languages; and utilizing Google Analytics, Tealeaf, Optimizely, Appdynamic, NewRelic, Graphite, and Catchpoint for day to day operations

**In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Management, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the above skills.
