Site Reliability Engineer

Shopkick is in search of a Site Reliability Engineer for our Infrastructure Team. As a high growth company, we are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to learn cutting edge technologies, and be an advocate for DevOps best practices within our organization. They will also be able to debug issues in a distributed system running on hundreds of kubernetes nodes and used by millions of users. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with engineers to scale and maintain our production systems
  • Define SLOs and ensure that SLIs are measured for new services
  • Manage and use tools like Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible to automate routine tasks
  • Profile server/service loads and plan for future capacity requirements, scaling, and optimization
  • Plan, implement, and maintain platform and system upgrades
  • Help troubleshoot service issues and recommend solutions
  • Deploy, investigate, and troubleshoot legacy software using existing documentation

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting developers and installing/maintaining Linux servers
  • Strong coding ability in an object oriented language (Java, C#, C++, Python, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals
  • Experience with any major cloud provider, Google preferred
  • Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools
  • Excellent team player with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Enthusiastic about collaborative problem solving
  • Eagerness to solve challenging problems and a love of learning and trying new things
  • BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
