UX Education Specialist

The Shopify UX org is made up of over 150 designers, content strategists, researchers and front end developers that are working to create products that make commerce better for everyone. We’re looking to add our very first UX Education Specialist to the group who can create and implement programs that ensure that those 150+ UXers keep growing and developing their skills. Check out the lists below to find out more about what we’re looking for and what you could be working on.

You'll need to have:

  • experience designing, launching and measuring learning & development initiatives
  • a deep understanding of how people learn and various learning formats (in-person, self-directed, on the job etc.)
  • the ability to assess and address UX’ers learning needs, recognize trends and provide relevant solutions
  • a creative approach; why settle for a traditional solution when we can get the juices flowing and start innovating?
  • a ton of initiative and persistence to keep education top of mind across all of UX
  • an iterative approach to experimentation

It'd be great if you have:

  • an understanding of UX disciplines, processes, methods and competencies
  • experience using technology to leverage and scale learning and development
  • experience with Instructure Canvas

You'll be working on things like:

  • gathering and understanding the learning needs across our UX org
  • facilitating the creation of competencies and learning outcomes
  • partnering with subject matter experts (including the Shopify Talent Development team) to curate and or create relevant learning opportunities (workshops, talks, seminars etc.) and then monitoring and tracking the effectiveness of each of these opportunities
  • promoting the program across all of Shopify
