The Talent Acquisition team sat down with Lily Rogers, Head of Merchant Success for Shopify Plus to learn more about the Senior Merchant Success Lead role:
Essentially, I'm looking to hire someone to help me lead a rapidly growing customer success organization. This org includes Merchant Success Managers, Launch Managers, Learning and Development, Merchant Education, and will continue to adopt new teams as we grow.
Currently, there is myself in a Senior Lead role, managing 10 direct reports who lead these functions and teams. My ideal candidate is someone who joins me to operationalize our plans for 2017 and beyond, to help build with scalability and innovation in mind. The candidate doesn't need to have a customer success background - having experience scaling any team would be sufficient. I consider myself more of a builder, so I'm really looking for an operator. Experience scaling a team is really important to me, as we care deeply about our employees I want to ensure that as we grow to meet the needs of our merchants, our teams are well-supported and set up for success.
I've been primarily looking at Director and VP level candidates. While this person will be reporting to me, the level of experience we require means that the majority of candidates will be quite senior. I think the best person will be someone who is ready for a new challenge, and is excited at the possibility of helping grow a high-impact, high-performance team at Shopify. For the right person, this is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
