At our core, Shopify is about people; Merchants, customers, and employees. All we do, from coding, design, engineering, and support, are human endeavours. Understanding people is tremendously important to building a company which lasts 100+ years. This is where the People Analytics comes in. We are the R&D of HR. Shopify is our lab, where we seek to understand how we can drive and build a solid people platform. A platform to nurture, drive, and enable Shopifiers to find and have meaningful impact. This is a chance to change how we work and ultimately how Shopify works.
This isn’t your traditional data analyst role. As a people analytics analyst, your role is to work with core members of the People Analytics team to collect, transform, and get curious about people data. You will be working closely with HR to push for data informed decisions and to teach others how to get informed. This means helping out to define and measure key metrics, designing and analyzing surveys, promoting novel analytical techniques, questioning assumptions, and telling the story of what drives people. You will develop a deep understanding of our data, tools, and processes.
You could work with the following organizations within Shopify HR:
Talent Development - Shopify's Talent Development team is responsible for building out all learning programs + content across Shopify. This covers coaching of directors and leads, 360 feedback assessments, leadership training, and individual learning programs.
HR Core - The Human Relations team has worked hard to build trust and empathy throughout Shopify. This means a high touch approach with lots of human interactions. Within People Analytics we want to figure out how to make this high touch more efficient. How can we understand, via data, where we can have the greatest impact to continue building that trust and understanding.
You'll need to have:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a data analytics role
- Python + Pandas data analysis experience
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Great organizational and interpersonal skills, with proven success building relationships across all levels
- Survey design and analysis
- App or front-end development experience a plus
