Who are we?

The Shopify platform hosts 500,000 active online stores around the world, ranging from shops run by small entrepreneurs, to big names like Tesla Motors, Herschel, and the LA Lakers. We want to make commerce better for everyone and we’re helping thousands of merchants achieve their dream of running a successful business! 🎉

Shopify is the largest Rails application in the world and we're a big part of the Rails community. We've released lots of open source projects, such as ActiveMerchant, Dashing, Liquid, and a host of other gems used by Rails developers around the world.🌍 We're renowned for our gorgeous UI, our customizable templating system, and our developer API and ecosystem, including our own App and Theme Stores. You can learn more about what our teams are up to on our Eng blog!

Who are we looking for?

Schooling and years of experience are not a requirement here at Shopify. We feel that the best way to learn is not always in the typical classroom, but through practical experience, hard work, and passion.💚 If you love challenging yourself with projects, hacking just for fun or learning new languages and development techniques, then keep reading!

Life at Shopify

Being an intern at Shopify means you get to make an impact and get shit done. You’ll get to work alongside full time devs, deploying to master on real projects and features that will directly affect our merchants. Find out what past interns have had to say here. In your application

We want to learn about your passion for development and initiative beyond school requirements. 🚀  Do you: get involved in your student associations/clubs; hack on your own projects; organize events, attend mentoring sessions or meet ups; build at hackathons; contribute to open source projects; seek out challenges and learning opportunities? If you do, tell us about it in your cover letter! You can address it to Tyrion Lannister🏛🗡(emojis encouraged).

Experience comes in many forms, many skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. If your experience is close to what we’re looking for, consider applying. We know that diversity of thought makes for the best problem-solving and creative thinking, which is why we're dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team and encourage everyone to apply.
