The Respiratory Therapist II applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate respiratory care for any age–related needs of the patients served on assigned unit or department


Required Education/Experience:
- Completion of an AMA approved two year school of Respiratory Therapy.
- For ECMO Specialist, 2 years NICU/PICU experience.
- For Transport RT, 2 years NICU, PICU, and CICU combined experience.
- For Staff Educator Preceptor, Clinical Educator, and QI/Research RTII, two years of NICU/PICU experience.
- For Emergency Department RT 1 year NICU/PICU or equivalent critical care experience.

Required Credentials:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registry Eligible with the National Board of Respiratory Care
- BLS for Healthcare Providers or current PALS certification.
- Current Washington State Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Any one of the following:
- completion of ECMO specialist training and selection to be on the team of ECMO specialist;
- completion of Neonatal Transport training and certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) plus selection to be on the neonatal air and ground transport team;
- completion of training requirements including the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential from the NBRC to be multidisciplinary respiratory therapy educator and staff preceptor;
- completion of training in the Pulmonary Function or Exercise Stress Labs. CPFT required within 6 months of hire or transfer for employees working in the Pulmonary Diagnostic’s Lab.

- RPFT preferred for employees working in the Pulmonary Diagnostic’s Lab
- BS preferred for Clinical Educator and QI/Research RT II
