Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or PA.C: 0.6 FTE- 1.0 FTE All shifts

Job Description:

Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and neonatal physician assistant work in partnership with Seattle Children's neonatologists to provide level III and higher neonatal care at Seattle Children's Hospital as well as four other regional affiliated hospitals, including sites in the south Puget Sound area. Shifts vary in length. NNPs/PA-Cs are assigned to one primary site and rotate to one or more of the other four hospitals.

Provide direct care and assume primary responsibility for clinical management of patients in the inpatient setting. Obtain patient histories, perform procedures, physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. Direct or participate in case management and continuing care. Collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. Contribute to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. Participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

Requirements:

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner & Physician Assistant, Certified

Represent Seattle Children's in serving the Seattle metropolitan region by providing exceptional advanced practice care to healthy and high-risk newborns and their families.

Applicants should be aware that all NNPs/PA-Cs are assigned to one primary site and rotate to one or more other hospitals in the region for which our team provides team-based neonatal care. The Seattle Children's Regional Neonatal NNP/PA group provides care at the following hospitals. Seattle Children's Hopsital, Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Providence Medical Center in Everett, Valley Medical Center in Renton, St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma and Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.

  • We have various positions open, ranging from 24-40 hours per week. All positions include various shifts days/evenings/nights.

By working at one of more of these hospitals and living in the area, it's a great way to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. From skiing to surfing- we have it all in Washington State.

Required Education/Experience/Credentials

  • Master's degree in nursing or science with a concentration in a neonatal nurse practitioner program or neonatology intensive focused curriculum. Current work experience in a neonatal intensive care unit, Level III or higher required.
  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington with current national certification as a neonatal nurse practitioner.
  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (as per United States standards).
  • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children's Hospital.
  • We will also accept physician assistant-certified candidates with a background or strong clinical experience (fellowship) in a NICU setting.
  • Must have educational preparation, national certification, and physician assistant-certified licensure in the State of Washington, plus formal physician assistant post graduate training in neonatology- required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the neonatal nurse practitioner or physician assistant role.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required- depending on work location.
  • Infant transport experience depending on work location.
