JOB SUMMARY

As head of the global BarTender solutions consulting team, you will lead and manage the global sales engineering team. You will ensure that all sales technical team members have the technical knowledge and expertise to sell and implement BarTender, actively drive and manage all technology aspects of the sales process, ensure all sales engineers adopt consistent practices and processes and build-out a customer and partner training program.

Success is defined by achieving regional and global sales targets and execution of team goals; including improving RFP responses and win rates, enhancing customer and partner training, and expanding our professional service sales. 

WHO YOU ARE

You are a hands-on leader and manager with a proven record of success in working with customers and partners and building and leading a 1st-line global sales engineering team. You possess both strong technical and sales skills. You welcome the opportunity to represent the company with customers and partners, including advising customers on our products and presenting training seminars with members of your team. You also have familiarity with channel and partner dynamics.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will lead and manage the global sales engineering team to achieve goals and targets, improve RFP responses and win rates, enhance customer and partner training and expand professional services sales.

The sales engineering team is responsible for providing customers and partners with in-depth technical product and related solution assistance during pre-sales discussions; including proposal generation, technical sales presentations, product demonstrations, appropriate product configuration, product recommendation, product pricing, proof of concepts (POC) and solution options to meet customer solution vision.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Partner with regional sales directors to ensure the sales engineering team members are achieving goals and meeting expectations.
  • Improve customer and partner technical training.
  • Be a leader and role model across the global sales organization and across Seagull Scientific.
  • Develop and manage a sales training program for the various sales teams.
  • Maintain an appropriate contact cadence for team members and review direct report activities regularly.
  • Participate in regional sales meetings as appropriate.
  • Report regularly on sales engineering activities, projects, and goals. Participate in regular team meetings, meetings with peers and discuss activities, opportunities, and issues with immediate supervisor at least every two weeks or as needed.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

  • 10+ years' experience in progressive software sales engineering or similar types of engagements involving solution selling.
  • 5+ years' of pre-sales sales engineering management experience with a software company.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical concepts and resolve complex pre-sales technical problems.
  • Experience presenting complex technical concepts in a clear manner to customers through presentations, demonstrations, and proposals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of strategic selling and the consultative sales process.
  • Familiarity with enterprise label management software barcodes, labeling, networking, databases, SaaS solutions and cloud environments is preferred. Experience with ERP, WMS, MES and MRP systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with .NET programming, C#, VBScript, XML, and web interfaces.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals.
  • Willingness to pitch in and work alongside the team.
  • Ability to travel between 15-25% of your time, including at least annual trips to our regional international offices that will take 7-12 days. 
  • Due to Covid-19 vaccine requirements at some in-person event venues and customer/partner sites, this role requires proof of Covid-19 vaccination upon hire.
  • Communicate with and manage remote team members, working across multiple time zones – PST plus AND minus nine hours.
  • Part of the application process will include a presentation and demonstration of our BarTender technology.

EDUCATION

  • Four-year degree in computer science or information technology or equivalent work experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a full-time position with benefits.
  • This job is located in Bellevue, WA, under a hybrid work schedule and is open to local candidates in the Seattle area, or those willing to relocate at their own expense.
