The San Francisco Chronicle is seeking a talented and experienced designer who is well-versed in typography, color and layout, and who could bring confident creativity to our features and news pages.
The ideal candidate must exhibit a mastery of creative thinking with solid news judgment.
Designer, full-time position
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively and is adept at finding design solutions. Works in a teamwork atmosphere with the Assistant Managing Editor of Lifestyle and Features editors to execute clean designs for our lifestyle sections at the Chronicle. Strong design skills are preferred with particular focus on well-designed pages and packages demonstrating creativity and strong attention to detail and deadlines. Designer should have a firm understanding of all levels of production, and capable of not only contributing to the project at hand but communicating effectively with editors and fellow designers.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- More than five years of experience at major metropolitan newspaper.
- Must have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows, and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign programs. Knowledge of CCI NewsGate is preferred.
- Digital design skills are a big plus.
