Attire while on adventure - The Society has a very conservative grooming policy. Tattoos may not be visible or must be appropriately covered while on duty. Jewelry may be worn if it does not detract from a well-groomed look or create a safety hazard. No facial or tongue piercing

Amenities - Located 30 minutes north of the San Diego Zoo in San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, California.This adventure offers ZOO Perks which include discounts on food/premium products, free and discounted admission to local attractions, and accrual of vacation and sick time (exception for some grants and Summer Fellowships).

Requirements for this adventure include:

(Union Position) Hourly Rate $19.56 - $21.29

Job Requirements:
Interested applicants must be available primarily Monday through Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm. HOWEVER, weekends, nights and emergency work may be required. Scheduled hours will be approximately 40 hrs/wk.

Desirable qualifications for this position include a degree or certificate in horticulture, botany or a related subject, general knowledge of trees, shrubs, bedding plant material and their growth principles, horticultural soil conditions and preparations, methods and precautions for applying fertilizers and insecticides, working knowledge of tree installation and removal, experience with irrigation system troubleshooting, repair and installation from the valve to the sprinkler head, maintenance practices and work safety practices. Must be a team player and have excellent communication skills.

Additional qualifications for this position includes experience with tractors, loaders, forklifts, dump trucks, and ability to use walk behind gas powered equipment , the ability to operate equipment (i.e. heavy duty trucks) as well as tractors and carts.

Working conditions for this position includes exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, allergens and equipment noise/vibration. Must have the ability to move moderate to heavy objects; ability to move about on uneven terrain; and ability to work in confined or cramped positions. Ability to perform other duties as required. Valid CA driver license required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential functions of this position include the ability to monitor sounds and two-way radio trafficas well as have the ability to drive a SDZ Global vehicle. If you are offered employment in this position, you will be asked to authorize SDZ Global to access your current driving report through the DMV's Employer Pull Notice Program. Your hiring for this position will be contingent on SDZ Global receiving an acceptable driving report from you. In addition, your continued employment in the position will depend on you maintaining an acceptable driving record. You may obtain a list of conditions that disqualify a person from driving an SDZ Global vehicle from a Human Resources Representative .
