Role and Responsibilities

This role is responsible for managing projects, while working cross functionally with teams to build all learning interactions for the Samsung Electronics America retail sales division. They have complete oversight of all learning programs including product category and experience planning, field sales events and workshops, field employee learning journey, and direct to consumer sales channel approach.

This role is responsible for collaborating on the creation of the global retail training approach for the SEA mobile retail sales function. The qualified candidate will manage the day to day training request intake process, prioritization, negotiation, and project management process for their assigned product or strategy category. This individual takes a learner-centric approach to define and routinely validate learning needs for targeted audiences. They work alongside all learning partners to establish the overall vision, learning interactions, and requirements for each assigned project.

The individual will work collaboratively and strategically under minimal supervision. The candidate will help drive the retail training team learning strategy and vision, seeking alignment for that strategy with internal and external partners. They will also be responsible for the readiness of cross- functional peers and leaders senior to their role. They actively provide strategy to the overall approach to field training initiatives for all supported channels, and drive the larger Samsung retail organization vision to life through learning & development experiences and support.

This is a hybrid role, working part of the week in the Plano, TX office/part of the week remotely.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Build strong working relationships by partnering with cross-functional business leaders and key stakeholders to determine specific requirements for training development for field
  • Serve as the primary intake manager for all Retail Training requests and prioritize accordingly
  • Partner with peer groups to include Customized Learning Solutions, Learning Experience Content Design and video team, Training Field Delivery, Sales Enablement, Operations, and Field Sales teams to effectively navigate the production of training content solutions
  • Build solutions that are data driven, and can be measured effectively
  • Project management of the execution of category specific training with support from the Senior Manager (Training Strategy Architecture) and the content management process including ideation, design brainstorm, time forecasting for tasks, and delivery planning to internal and external partners
  • Proactively participates/facilitates in the quarterly development and review of business objectives, strategies, creating solutions, tactics and measurement tools
  • Collaborate with Retail leadership to determine specific product and/or field training strategies, including elements such as: sell in, sell through, consumer profiling, closing, merchandising, and channel management
  • Make regular calls and conduct meetings with internal stakeholders and channel partners, as needed
  • Maintain understanding of regional sales trends, shifts in market conditions and competitive positioning
  • Participate as a member of the key product launch committees that affect assigned major account(s) to ensure effective launch of new products nationally
  • Meet with Product Management team to design and communicate go-to-market training strategies for new product launches, cross-functionally with partners and to the Retail Training team
  • Attend weekly go-to-market product calls to stay current on product development and launch status
  • Establish product launch presentations that provide continuity for all Sales & Marketing training deliverables
  • Act (with appropriate sales & marketing personnel) as the primary contact and trainer for critical training programs
  • Develop processes for training effectiveness measurement
  • Manage the hindsight and feedback collection processes for all major training program, launches, and project plans
  • Develop global strategy playbooks that govern strategic roadmap and initiatives in partnership with the Senior Manager (Training Strategy Architecture)
  • Collaborate with different 3PL, contractors, and agencies in a highly-complex environment when producing large events or training programs

Background/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of experience in the following: project management, training, or sales support is required
  • Previous experience required in project management, including ideation, design brainstorm, time forecasting for tasks, risk management, and delivery planning to internal and external partners
  • Prior experience working cross functionally with teams to develop and plan employee training programs is required. Line of sight to Go-to-Market and product training is a plus.
  • Must have experience developing presentations and reports
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required
  • Proven capability to track return on investment within internal record systems, and articulate performance successes with executive presence
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools. Experience with Microsoft Project and Asana are required and a familiarity of Confluence/Jira is preferred.
  • Experience with planning and organizing multiple, complex assignments, large-scale events, and/or projects is preferred
  • Preferred - Experience working in one of the following areas within the telecommunications industry or in large-scale technology companies in: training management, account management, program management, project management
  • Preferred - Experience in event based training and large-scale event planning (in-person, hybrid and virtual events)
  • Preferred - Prior experience supporting a sales team or experience involved in the sales cycle process
  • Preferred - Exposure and ability to speak to adult learning principles (Bloom's Taxonomy, Experiential development & facilitation) is preferred

  • Must be team oriented and dedicated to the success of the team's objectives
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all assigned levels within and outside the company including SEA management/executives, within the Retail Training team and cross-functionally inside the company
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects
  • Demonstrated competency in both oral and written communication modes for both internal and external personnel at various levels, especially with training content creation team, video team, field delivery, CLS team, channel management, retail strategy, product, and marketing teams
  • Work independently and in a team environment, in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames
  • Detail-oriented and organized person with a positive mindset who is open to collaboration and creative brainstorming and also open to development from peer and leadership
  • Impeccable oral, verbal, and written communications and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate excellence in time management skills and follow up to ensure meeting on time deliverables
  • The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple strategic programs and simultaneous performance objectives
  • The ability to accept tasks and problems/situations that differ and require creativity to search for solutions among learned challenges. Only broad and general guidelines exist for solving problems and project management. The ability to utilize implied knowledge of task alternatives and collaborate with the Senior Manager of Training Strategy Architecture to guide them to make sound decisions using past experience
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with senior levels within the organization using clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to make professional business presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, including complex business and technical matters to an audience of high technical skills, management and operational experience

Physical/Mental Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between 50% - 95% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable (90%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction, and moderate hand/finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC's, printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
