Samsung Electronics America is recruiting for a Strategic Partner Manager to join the Smart TV Business Development Team. The Strategic Partner Manager will be the face of Samsung to some of our most important partners and participate in shaping the direction of the largest OTT platform in the world. In this position, you will build and manage relationships with Smart TV ecosystem partners, with responsibility for growing Samsung's content and services business and making sure partners are leveraging Samsung's full platform capabilities and distribution. You will need to have a deep understanding of the media landscape, OTT trends and platforms, and evolving business models. You will also need a keen sense of product awareness to articulate platform value and represent product requirements. Exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to dive deeply into both business and technical issues will be critical to success in this role.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, as well as a strong analytical bent and the ability to navigate and embrace complexity. While managing the day-to-day partner relationships, the candidate will need to be able to see the big picture while remaining detail oriented. S/he will demonstrate a mastery of verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, drive presentations, represent Samsung to all levels of partner organizations. The Strategic Partner Manager must be a self-starter and will need be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, take the initiative, manage multiple partners, and work under tight timeframes.

Samsung's Smart TV Platform is the leading living room platform for OTT content consumption and distribution. The Business Development Team is responsible for sourcing, negotiating with, and managing partnerships on the Samsung Smart TV platform.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop highly effective, deep relationships with key partners. Provide day-to-day management of partner relationships with a focus on growth activities.
  • Drive thought leadership on the evolving OTT space and advocate across the organization on behalf of partners and opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally across business, product, operations, and other parts of the organization (including Korea HQ) to develop and execute business strategy
  • Drive thinking on key business metrics for partnerships, taking responsibility for mobilizing partners and internal resources to execute to meet objectives
  • Prepare strategy documents, quarterly business reviews, and executive presentations
  • Support Tizen Ecosystem key objectives
  • Administer contractual terms and marketing commitments
  • Track revenue, billing and payments
  • Monitor mobile product planning schedules and align with SmartTV initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

  • BA/BS required, MBA/JD preferred but not required
  • 6+ years of experience in content acquisition, account management, or digital content distribution at a studio, network, or digital platform
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations
  • Passionate about technology and new media trends
  • Self-motivated, assertive, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Deep understanding of the Android media-ecosystem along with best practices is a plus (ToS, APK, Release Schedules)
  • Operational experience managing complex partnerships
  • Experience interpreting and administering complex contracts, interfacing with legal teams
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are a must

Compensation for this role, for candidates based in New York City or California, is expected to be between $120,000 and $160,000 + bonus. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
