Position Overview:
Samsung is looking for a Director of Investments and Incentives to join the Business Planning Team. The Director of Investments and Incentives provides actionable insights into operations and financial results through disciplined capital management and proactively identifying and measuring opportunities through close partnerships with stakeholders in Retail and the broader SEA organization. This position will report to the Senior Director of Business Planning to drive Retail strategy.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Spearhead the investment valuation of new initiatives, in market efficacy Test & Learn/Hypothesis trialing and Capital Committee support.
  • Manage the tracking, reporting, and setting of performance metrics (MBOs, A/R etc), proactively examine and assess business opportunities to drive operational and financial performance.
  • Spearhead the management and balance of operating and marketing budget and spend across the teams being supported
  • Foster and maintain strong business partnerships with Division Controller and central finance teams to promote teamwork and organizational alignment including sharing best practices across divisions.
  • Prepare analysis for business reviews, annual budgets, and long-range plans and provide insightful analysis.
  • Support financial reviews with vendors, contracts and business planning needs across the organization.
  • Drive monthly and quarterly business reviews with the organization being supported.
  • Deliver reporting and analytics to a variety of key business stakeholders, utilizing appropriate data to effectively create actionable spending plans.

Background/Experience Required:

  • BS/BA in Business, Finance with 12+ years of progressive experience in data science, analytics, pricing, financial planning and analysis, with exposure to retail financials, , and operating budget management.; MBA/CFA with 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong Retail, CPG, Telecom, Analytics Agency or Consulting experience preferred. Previous experience in large retail/sales organizations highly preferred.
  • Analytics experience utilizing dedicated tools (i.e., Test & Learn/APT, SAS, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, R, Matlab, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of PC software applications experience with solid Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Results oriented, ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives, and build organizational capability.
  • Strong planning, operational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills who can communicate with and relate to people at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, deal with ambiguity, and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment focused on growth.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and able to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Independent thinking self-starter who has developed strong working partnerships in global corporations (multi-lingual Korean a plus)

Physical/Mental Demands:

Work is generally performed in an office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between more than 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable work utilizing high visual acuity / detail, numeric / character distinction and moderate hand / finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC's, printers, copiers, faxes and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
