Regional Sales Manager- Grocery, Southwest

Regional Sales Manager: RXBAR Regional Sales Managers are responsible for executing a strategic sales plan in their region.  This role is responsible for selling and marketing all retail categories of products under the RXBAR brand. 

 Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, a strong collaborator, has great organization and communication skills, can work independently, and is hungry to grow a new brand. 

General Functions + Responsibilities:

Regional Leadership-

  • Recruit, hire, lead and develop 2-4 Territory Sales Managers in key markets
  • Provide direction, development and motivation to the Territory Sales Managers to maximize business opportunities and objectives
  • Work with Territory Sales Managers to build plans for key retailers and merchandising teams
  • Engage in 1:1s each week with the Territory Managers in your region
  • Work closely with other Regional Managers to ensure that best practices and mistakes are shared openly and consistently
  • Build relationships, influence, lead and train assigned brokers
  • Maintain excellent customer and RXBAR employee interdepartmental relationships
  • Cultivate great relationships throughout the food industry

Sales Execution-

  • Prepare for and execute regional and national headquarter calls
  • Execute strategic sales plan developed by Director of Sales and VP of Sales
  • Sell and manage to revenue and promotional trade spend budget
  • Collaborate with Finance Team on promotion planning, trade management and post-promotional analysis to increase effectiveness
  • Lead store level sales execution for all designated retail chains within region leveraging merchandising teams and internal RXBAR support (Territory Managers, Marketing team, Sales Planning team, Field Marketing, etc.)
  • Work with Finance Team to resolve unauthorized deductions and chargebacks
  • Execute new items during product launch periods
  • Collaborate with Category Insights team to bring relevant and timely data to our retail and vendor partners
  • Expand the business by securing new doors, added SKUs and merchandising programs
  • Tone Setting: Embody the RXBAR culture and sales team values and reinforce the “RXBAR Sales Call”
  • Actively participate in trade shows and customer shows
  • Maintain excellent customer and RXBAR employee interdepartmental relationships

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Develop sales playbook with Director of Sales – West, VP of Sales and Sales Planning team for key retailers within the region
  • Communicate with Category Insights and Sales Planning teams about important, needle-moving programs
  • Provide thoughtful insight into pricing structure within the region
  • Anticipate retailer response to changes in RXBAR pricing and distribution
  • Proactively communicate with Sales Planning team to stay ahead of programs that create executional challenges
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales – West, VP of Sales and Sales Planning team to prioritize retailers for new items
  • Identify and communicate merchandising and shopper marketing programs to Director of Sales – West, VP of Sales, Sales Planning and Marketing

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related field required
  • Reside within the territory being managed--must live near major airport
  • 5+ years’ experience in retail sales and merchandising in the grocery industry
  • Currently working as a Regional Sales Manager or equivalent position within the retail food class of trade
  • Proven and successful sales management track record
  • Leadership skills and competencies for advancement within the company
  • Established relationships with distributor and retailer customer base
  • Experience in sales and expense budgeting and management to budget
  • Broker management experience
  • Knowledge of the natural/organic industry
  • Excellent communication skills with external customers, peers, supervisors, and internal supporting departments
  • Has a home office and can work remotely and independently
  • Ability to travel for trade shows, sales calls, and meetings - approximately 50% of time
  • Proven integrity in life/employment and honesty in dealings with others
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Occasional and event related weekend work is required
