The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of federal, state and local income tax returns, estimated tax payments and extensions for Paloma Rheem Investments, Inc. (PRI) and Subsidiaries. The Senior Tax Accountant will also assist with the interim and year-end tax provision. This position will also be responsible for the international tax reporting requirements of the company in addition to state and federal income tax audits and controversies. The Senior Tax Accountant is expected to have regular contact with Division and Subsidiary Controllers' staff regarding tax compliance issues.

This position will serve our Corporate Tax Division, located in Atlanta, GA.



Qualifications:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Prepare and/or review federal, state and local income tax returns, estimated tax payments, extensions and related workpapers for PRI and Subsidiaries as assigned.
  • Prepare International Tax reporting Forms 5471 and 5472.
  • Reconcile and analyze income tax accounts to assure that they are accurately reflected in the Company's financial statements.
  • Monitor current tax legislation and advises tax management on its impact on the Company.
  • Assists in the preparation of the interim and year-end federal and state income tax provision.
  • Respond to federal and state notices.
  • Manage the state income tax audit process by responding to audit inquires, defending Company filing positions, preparing protests to assessments, working with legal counsel on audits and appeals.
  • Assists in providing and compiling requested information for federal and state audits.
  • Supervise the Sales & Use Tax Compliance process ensuring the accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns and completion of other related tasks.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly reconciliations of the sales and use tax accounts.
  • Provide support to team members in the development of tax strategies and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel to company's division offices. Attendance at seminars or training sessions may require travel on an as needed basis.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
  • 2 to 3 years of public accounting experience at a Big 4 national firm or 3-4 years in industry.
  • CPA certification or eligible.
  • ASC 740 experience.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of income tax concepts and accounting principles.
  • Ability to thrive in a team oriented environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to consistently meet compliance deadlines.
  • Experience in responding to taxing jurisdiction inquiries and resolve issues with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to understand and interpret income tax laws and regulations and determine their effects upon the Company's liability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and division accounting groups and effectively respond to tax related questions.
  • Ability to accurately calculate tax liabilities and percentages.
  • Ability to create formulas to calculate sums and percentages.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and apply them to the determination of tax liabilities.
  • Ability to understand tax laws and regulations and apply them in determining federal, state and local income tax filing requirements and liabilities.
