Algorithms Engineer

We’re looking for a hybrid backend generalist, and someone who has done significant work in an algorithmic area. This could be optimization, AI, graphs, etc. Our ideal candidate has experience researching unsolved, highly domain-specific problems, and implementing a working proof of concept solution. Then writing high-quality code and maintaining it in production.

You’ll work with a team of friendly and talented engineers. We’re passionate about solving challenging problems in order to deliver an excellent experience to our customers. You’ll transform transportation data, which is geospatial and discrete, into information that’s useful for planners. You’ll decide how to derive intuitive insights from bus and demographic data, and how to solve combinatorial problems quickly with good results. You’ll tie it all together with our front end engineer into a product our customers love to use.

You'd be a good fit if:

  • You’ve worked in a production environment, so you’ve deployed and done database migrations.
  • You’ve worked with some algorithmic concepts, like graphs, optimization, and writing heuristics.
  • You’ve read an academic paper and implemented the research.
  • You’re excited about working in a fast-paced environment in a quickly-growing but stable startup.

To apply, send your resume (or LinkedIn profile) and a few words on why you're the right person + what excites you about transit.

We are committed to a workplace that reflects the community we serve. We especially encourage women, people of color, and others who are underrepresented in the tech industry to apply.

See Inside the Office of Remix

Remix is an interactive planning tool that streamlines and informs how public transit routes are designed. Transportation agencies and city governments using Remix can map out new transit scenarios and visualize implications of those scenarios—in terms of cost, for instance, or the demographics of the people who would be affected.
