JavaScript Developer

About Us:

Reformation is a fast-growing company that is redefining fashion. We make killer clothes that don’t kill the environment and want our garments’ impact on the planet to be as low as possible. After all, there’s nothing less sexy than leaving a big nasty mess.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a senior JavaScript developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include implementing visual elements and their behaviors with user interactions. You will work with both front-end and back-end web developers to build client-side logic. You will also be bridging the gap between the visual elements and the server-side infrastructure, taking an active role on both sides, and defining how the application looks and functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
  • Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end services
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Be a trusted, go-to JS expert for other developers on the team

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds
  • Strong understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Strong experience building mobile-web applications (50+% of our traffic is mobile web)
  • Good understanding of JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS/ReactJS but proficiency with pure javascript applications as well
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
  • Familiarity with JavaScript module loaders, such as Require.js and AMD
  • Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt and Gulp.js
  • Proficient using Git
  • Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance
  • Agile enthusiast who understand methodologies and enjoys being part of a scrum team
  • eCom experience is a plus

Benefits & Perks:

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Clothing discount
  • Paid volunteer time-off
  • Bi-Monthly “Ref Talks” to learn about other aspects of our business
  • Regular company events and parties (Yoga! Tie-Dye! Documentaries!)
  • Pet-friendly office
