Senior Manager, Footwear Material Development & Innovation

Boston, MA

The Senior Manager, Material Development & Innovation will carry out research and development of advanced textiles and materials that fuel the overall material development efforts for Reebok footwear. This individual will strategically develop materials such as fibers, yarns, knits and beyond that support the brand direction for key concept products and will ultimately drive revolutionary material innovations for Reebok products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver new material innovations for commercial use on an ongoing basis
  • Manage the end to end process of revolutionary material development projects
  • Conduct leading edge testing contributing to the research and development of new material technologies
  • Collaborate to create new practices, process and design applications to increase category and product value and performance
  • Be pro-active in material solutions to solve product creation challenges
  • Create testing protocol that ensures new materials are commercially viable
  • Continually research and analyze new material opportunities and technologies in the marketplac.
  • Uses his/her extensive technical knowledge and research capabilities to provide input regarding market direction, opportunities, and likely activities of key competitors
  • Work with in-line material development innovation team to focus efforts and collaborate on key milestones
  • Incorporate product creation technology resource into material research projects
  • Incorporate new material innovations into seasonal Material Shows to increase impact for product teams

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven success in material development / research environment
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong knowledge of material business
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), local languages an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently to see a project through to completion

Qualifications:

1.Degree from four-year college or university with course work in materials or related fields
2. Minimum of 8 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Knowledge and ability to use data base programs; access, excel and other internal systems
