Software Engineer in Test (SDET)

Are you a computer science geek that loves to work on tools and services that help other computer science geeks solve their problems? Are you also passionately savvy in thinking about how customers use products? Do you love to write code just so that you can write more code to test the code that you just wrote? The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) role will work as part of the engineering operations team focused on delivering the absolute best to our customers. The role will be a mix of manual testing efforts to help identify when and how functional testing can be automated, as well as helping to implement that automation effort as part of the engineering operations team.


  • 1-4 years of relevant experience
  • Flexibility to work outside of business hours as a release schedule requires


  • Continually create, improve, and maintain test automation and overall framework to support regression testing across all areas of product operation
  • Support and help create acceptance criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Execute manual tests as needed to verify acceptance and automation criteria is met
  • Author bug reports and write/maintain test documentation
  • Work with infrastructure engineers to investigate the source of defects


  • Ability to communicate your ideas and work with others in a collaborative environment
  • Understanding of the Agile development lifecycle (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working directly with software engineers in an Agile environment

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix/SSH
  • Shell scripting experience
  • Experience with Apache and Tomcat
  • Familiarity with the installation process of software and software platforms
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with Java and/or Python
  • Experience with infrastructure automation software/tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, etc.)
  • Experience working with certificates (TLS, SSL, Apache, etc.)
  • Experience with Selenium is a plus
  • Network/telephony experience is a plus
