Senior Director Consumer Analytics

Job Description

Rakuten is looking for an analytics expert to lead our Consumer Analytics group. You’ll be responsible for overseeing our analytics vision and approach, building out the program with other key business leads. This position with manage marketing (acquisition & lifecycle), sales, digital strategy, and merchandising analytics efforts. By providing results focused operational analytics and in-depth insights for our business teams, you will have a tremendous impact on the continued success and evolution of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop standardized dashboards and reporting to help inform marketing, sales, and merchandising teams on optimal strategy and decision making
  • Monitor daily reporting, identify issues/opportunities, and escalate to the appropriate marketing channel or business owner
  • Effectively hire and allocate resources (people and technology) to maximize the impact of analytics capabilities
  • Work with team members to identify new reporting or data requirements, document requirements, build reports and coordinate with engineering and business intelligence teams to provide necessary data
  • Investigate anomalies in data, and assist in any clean up or communication required as a result 
  • Undertake studies to optimize relevant areas of the business and drive business decisions
  • Example areas of focus:
    • Acquisition marketing channel efficacy – CPA, ROI, & ROAS
    • Lifecycle/retention marketing LTV, shopping/purchase frequency, and engagement maximization via UX, product marketing, & member segmentation optimization
    • Marketing budget planning management – direct response acquisition and retention efforts, based on overall business objectives
    • Digital placement strategy – yield and performance insights for sales & digital strategy teams, based on placement, merchant, & platform performance

 

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working as an analyst for an ecommerce website with a focus on marketing, sales or merchandising analytics
  • Experience with a variety of reporting platforms and analytical tools, specifically Tableau and Snowflake
  • Experience with marketing specific technologies such as Datorama and Segment preferred
  • Expert level in SQL, including sophisticated query writing
  • Experience with data science platforms such as SageMaker or Mode preferable; some knowledge of Python a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience working on multiple projects at the same time, with short deadlines
  • Experience communicating analyses to executive team members
  • Team leader with experience building departments to keep up with an aggressively expanding business

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ yr experience as an analyst
  • 4+ yr experience managing (and scaling) analytics team(s)
