Engineering Leader - Software Development

Overview

The Engineering Leader - Software Development will be responsible for overseeing the teams that design Rain Bird’s mobile application and associated cloud components.

This role may be remote or flexible job opportunity.  For flexible, the selected candidate should be based in San Diego, California or Tucson, Arizona, but will be able to work from home a few days during the week.  Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.  Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business unit leaders, engineering managers, technical staff engineers, and external contractors to develop Rain Bird’s mobile application and associated cloud components
  • Deliver world-class products and features that separate Rain Bird from its competitors
  • Mentor engineering managers that report to you
  • Recruit top engineering talent

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
  • 7+ years of management experience in a Software environment
  • Dynamic and strategic thinking abilities with a proven track record of delivering results
  • Significant level of business acumen, including an understanding of sales, marketing, competition, markets, finance
  • Strong technical background in full stack software development including mobile applications and cloud computing
  • Skilled at assimilating a broad spectrum of information (existing products, competitive offerings, available technologies, marketplace trends, customer desires, manufacturing constraints, schedule and budget implications, patents, and more) to contribute novel ideas for new product concepts and refine concepts that are generated by others
  • Able to foster creativity and innovation in project teams
  • Experienced recruiter and mentor of employees
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience with program/project management
  • Extensive experience with large-scale software development methodologies
  • Experience and appreciation of multi-cultural working environments

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree in a technical discipline
  • Experience using software to grow market share
  • Experience with business management, engineering leadership, sales, marketing, customer contact, legal contracts, patents, etc.

Salary range for candidates based in California: $228,000 – $342,000

Salary ranges include base salary and annual incentive bonus if applicable.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
