Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in the mortgage industry, financial audits and/or insurance
  • Bachelor's degree in law and/or a related field
  • Certification in BPMN (Business Process Model Notation)
  • Marketing compliance, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, California Consumer Protection Act, lead generation, or call routing knowledge
  • Compliance certifications
  • Understanding of and ability to create BPMN process models
  • Understanding of the process modeling software Signavio and/or Visio
  • Legal research and writing skills
  • Ability to complete risk evaluations and treatments
  • Working knowledge of the mortgage process and general understanding of underwriting and servicing guidelines
  • Demonstrated understanding of business operations, relevant processes and investor guidelines
  • Working knowledge of different types of controls and the functions they serve, and can draft controls
  • Extensive knowledge of the mortgage industry and the ability to apply legal and compliance frameworks

Job Summary
The Senior Compliance Strategist is responsible for curating, managing, implementing and maintaining regulatory compliance controls within regulatory and issue change management. This individual also builds relationships in the business to manage compliance risk associated with strategic internal initiatives. Taking the lead on compliance projects, they are responsible for problem solving and holistic compliance management root cause analyses. The Senior Compliance Strategist collaborates with other functional teams to complete holistic compliance risk assessments.

Responsibilities
  • Implement compliance controls into new assets upon the introduction of a new process or changes to an existing process
  • Implement compliance controls based on deficiencies found in the Compliance Management System
  • Keep business partners informed of progress and changes
  • Conduct root cause analysis, dig deep and create Compliance Analysis Reports surrounding a paradigm, issue or area
  • Take root causes and identify the control deficiency, assessing the issue at hand defensibly
  • Convey the relationship between variables (law vs. process vs. controls vs. monitoring) and variance with change
  • Apply the knowledge of controls to enhance the effectiveness of the compliance management system
  • Suggest and own compliance management system changes for compliance controls
  • Lead the team through the problem solving process when road blocks exist
  • Document all applicable records in the system of record and maintain updates to the records
  • Integrate and account for compliance controls in process maps and precisely create BPMN process maps
  • Maintain relationships with other teams within Legal and Quicken Loans, promoting collaboration
  • Onboard and develop new team members with support from human resources functions
