What You'll Do/Need

The ORM Closing Operations Director (OD) is responsible for the overall management of the Specialty HUD Review, Doc Drawing and Disbursement teams. These teams handle reviewing the HUD with title before closing, drawing documents, reviewing signed closing documents and disbursing funds. The ORM Closing Operations Director works closely with team leaders and team members to resolve issues, develops ongoing training and provides coaching. This team member works closely with their leaders and is responsible for process improvements and preparing for future business needs.



  • Communicate production and communication expectations to teams; provide daily reporting and feedback to the team
  • Mentor all team members who report to them, which includes coaching and feedback sessions as well as addressing performance issues with verbal and written warnings and handling employment separations when necessary
  • Monitor overtime and team member efficiency
  • Identify and resolve system or process issues
  • Make risk and client relations decisions with regard to approving and denying exception requests
  • Conduct monthly meetings with team members and communicate any changes affecting operations
  • Complete ongoing leadership training and all other training classes as required
  • Complete and administer annual reviews for team members that reported to them for the majority of the year
  • Meet bimonthly with their team members to provide feedback
  • Inform their leader of any team member or team issues proactively (such as low production, quality concerns, imbalanced staffing, etc.)
  • Maintain pipeline integrity
  • Interact with auditors, loan review and compliance team members, and examiners to assist in company reviews and examinations
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve issues, determine client needs and ensure the success of team and company objectives
  • Build strong relationships with Accounting, Technology, Compliance and other support teams to ensure ORM practices remain current and comply with all current policies and procedures
  • Sponsor large undertakings/projects



  • Seven years of mortgage or title experience (preferably title)
  • Three years of leadership experience
  • Ability to analyze layers of risk, compensating factors and the overall quality of a loan when making decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely while being aware of the audience
  • Ability to research and understand the loan process
  • Ability to learn multistep processes quickly and follow them through
  • Ability to propose solutions to problems and utilize all available resources to implement them
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize a workload and an ability to multitask
  • Confidence
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to identify problems with processes and team members before issues arise and to be proactive instead of reactive (waiting for issues to arise)
  • Proven ability to work with and understand a variety of software applications
  • Understanding of title and escrow procedures
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations with emphasis on RESPA, HUD and Regulation Z
  • Experience with MERS
  • Basic accounting skills
