What You'll Do/Need

The Mobile Application Developer works on a project-by-project basis with other Engineers, Web Developers, and Business and Marketing team members to create an intuitive experience for mobile users. This includes creating, extending and improving native mobile applications for iOS, Android and potentially other mobile platforms; leveraging an internal web service framework; building solutions; and maintaining existing applications, all in a high-energy environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Build great mobile apps by working with other Engineers, Developers, Architects, Quality Assurance Specialists, System Engineers and Project Managers to solve new and existing technical challenges
  • Understand requirements, implement solutions and provide administration tools and documentation for specific projects
  • Be there when needed, including performing scheduled on-call duties
  • Speak up and participate in design and code reviews
  • Follow and enhance existing development processes
  • Measure and verify that new and old code has acceptable performance and scalability
  • Own, don’t just work on, these projects and desire to see your work succeed and last the test of time
  • Deliver accurate estimates, provide regular feedback and consistently meet project deadlines
  • Mentor other Mobile Software Engineers by teaching mobile coding techniques, assisting with debugging issues and testing, and explaining what issues could lurk within high-level designs

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software development, art and technology, information technology or information systems, or equivalent work experience
  • Established portfolio of work and/or code samples
  • One year of experience developing iOS apps using Swift or Android apps using Java
  • Solid understanding of Cocoa/UIKit frameworks, Xcode/Interface Builder and the iOS SDK or Java, the Android SDK, and Eclipse
  • Experience using version control repositories such as CVS and Git
  • Collaborative development experience
  • Ability to explain complex ideas and concepts to non-technical team members and to enjoy the learning process as well as teaching others
  • Understanding of how and why unit testing delivers better solutions and speeds up maintenance
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Tendency to embrace challenges, focusing on coming up with solutions and options to solve issues
  • Ability to tailor excellent verbal and written communication to different audiences
  • Able to write, implement and manage libraries for either platform
