Role: Product Manager / Senior Product Manager

Position Summary:

We have an opportunity for a Product Manager / Senior Product Manager to work out of our Apple Valley, MN office.  This individual will be responsible for business and technical aspects of one or more products including, but not limited to: product vision, market research and identification of customer/market needs, product feature prioritization, business analysis and tracking of metrics, cross-functional leadership across the organization. In this role, you will be work closely with software development, sales, and other teams to ensure the organization delivers products and services that uniquely meet the needs of our customers/market and deliver on customer satisfaction and financial goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the “mini CEO” of your product, taking responsibility for the success of all business and technical aspects of your product(s), working closely with other teams as necessary
  • Analyze and understand market trends, needs, and competitors
  • Holistic product lifecycle management from conception and strategic planning through requirements definition, development, release, and post-release customer and channel support and satisfaction
  • Overall accountability for the development, review, and maintenance of a multi-year product roadmap
  • Development, analysis, and sharing of key business and customer satisfaction metrics for your product area(s)
  • Competitive analysis and internal competitive education
  • Close collaboration with Marketing and Sales to drive pricing and positioning for your product(s)
  • Manage/own product and services P&L
  • High level of focus on the end-to-end customer experience including collaboration with other teams as necessary to optimize this experience
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Ensure products meet business, market and customer needs and expectations
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with senior management
  • Create effective cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Product/services advocacy and evangelism
  • Analysis and proposal of new business and product opportunities to senior leadership
  • Support Sales and other customer-facing teams with product-related training, education, and communications

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of software product management experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Well-developed oral, written and listening skills 
  • Combination of both technical and business acumen
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrating decision-making and strategic thinking abilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with a close attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated success defining, launching, and maintaining successful products
  • Data-driven approach with cross-group collaboration skills to bring the organization to consensus on decisions on both short and long-term product plans
  • Deep understanding of product management best practices
  • Proactive leader who anticipates and addresses issue and needs
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally to achieve overall business objectives
  • Strong drive for product ownership across all facets of the product(s)
  • Willingness to travel (10 – 20% on average)
  • Experience with online educational products, reading/literacy programs, instructional technology tools and/or K-12 curriculum and/or assessments highly preferred
  • Experience with and understanding of software development, content management, and learning management systems is plus
  • Experience as Product Manager for SaaS based product a plus
  • Pragmatic Marketing or similar industry certification(s)

Other Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be willing to relocate to the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN area (telecommuting not available)
