Job Summary: The Clinical Data Trainer plays an important role in the Q-Centrix Institute (QCI) for Trauma, focusing on the build, delivery, and execution of our comprehensive onboarding and abstraction training program. This program targets Trauma abstraction candidates from various clinical backgrounds, enhancing their skills in data abstraction. As a trainer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality training, leveraging the curriculum to ensure learners are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in their roles. In addition to delivering training, you will play an important role in developing the trauma training curriculum in collaboration with QCI leadership. Your expertise will help shape and refine the curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards and addresses the evolving needs of our learners. Furthermore, you will support future continuous education initiatives, contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of training programs to maintain their relevance and effectiveness.

Essential Functions:  

  • Collaborate with QCI Leadership to develop and build a Level One Trauma Abstraction Training Program from the ground up encompassing program guidelines, curriculum, and training materials, including PowerPoint modules and hands-on application-based exercises 
  • Develop in-house educational content and lead the facilitation of training for ICD-10, ATS, and TQIP courses for current and future Trauma abstractors.  
  • Collaborate with project and division leaders to provide training through the QCI Learning Pathway, tailored specifically for the service line in which the newly hired Clinical Data Specialist (CDS) is being trained.  
  • Establish a comprehensive Continuous Education program for Trauma to ensure that abstractors consistently achieve our performance standards. 
  • Orient to and learn clinical data training facilities, providing essential support to trainees in mastering data abstraction techniques within these settings.  
  • Conduct full IRR case reviews on trainee’s practice and/or greenlighting cases in a timely manner, as specified in Learning Pathways.  
  • Provide feedback and coaching to trainees on identified areas to ensure they can meet our Q-Centrix performance standards for quality, efficiency, and timeliness.  
  • Document and tracking performance within the Q-Centrix Institute (QCI).

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Passion for training others. 
  • Experience, formally or informally, teaching/coaching/mentoring others to accurately complete trauma abstraction. 
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, logical and easy-to-understand information and guidance and communicate in an organized and engaging way. 
  • Exposure to multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases, with a willingness and ability to efficiently learn new ones as needed to support training.  
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with an ability to coordinate and oversee trainees at various stages of their training journey.  
  • Capacity to actively promote and support our training process, enthusiastically embracing and advocating for its ongoing evolution and improvements. 
  • Ability to be an exemplary ambassador for the company and its values, serving as one of the key initial contacts for new hires, guiding and influencing their initial experience with the organization. 
  • Proficiency in managing timelines and clearly communicating next steps, ensuring all team members are informed and prepared for their respective roles in the training process. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • Capability to excel in a constantly evolving environment, maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving. 
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity. 
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.  
  • Dedication to keeping PHI secure and confidential. 

 

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, Nursing preferred 
  • Current course certifications for ICD-10, AIS 15, ATS, and TQIP  
  • 3+ years of abstraction experience at a Trauma Level One facility

The target salary for this role is $78,000 - $88,000. An individual’s salary within this range is based on multiple factors including but not limited to skills, experiences, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational considerations. Salary ranges are reviewed, at minimum, annually and all team members are eligible for performance-based salary increases during our organization’s annual review period. The annual bonus payout may be higher or lower than target, dependent on individual and company performance and is considered variable pay.
