Senior Retail Business Trainer/Instructional Designer - Tommy Hilfiger

The Sr. Retail Business Trainer/Instructional Designer is a hybrid position responsible for all functions of the training process including determining needs, instructional class design, materials development, facilitation and evaluation. S/he will work within the Merch Ops team to train all new hires as well as existing associates in our Corporate Office for the Retail Division in New York City. S/he will have an enthusiasm and strong passion for training, developing, and supporting the business organization.

Responsibilities:
WORK WITH BUSINESS LEADERS

  • Collaborate with manager and business leaders to identify skill gaps and recommend solutions that are both leader-led and employee-empowered approaches to training
  • Build skills and support development while creating effective platforms for content delivery, standardization and sustainability

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
  • Lead the design and development of impactful and engaging learning solutions to all types of learners. Determine appropriate delivery approaches and methodologies (e.g., ILT, VLT, eLearning). Demonstrate high level of expertise in content design on a variety of subjects, using adult learning principals and standards. Create instruction that enhances the retention, transfer, and application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes specific to roles, performance, culture, and outcomes
  • Effectively utilize various media and technologies for learning solution delivery, (i.e., WebEx, Jabber, elearning software)

WORK WITH SMES
  • Collaborate closely with SMEs when developing and validating course content. Interface with SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders to identify learning objectives, gather requirements, define outcomes, and establish evaluation measures and success metrics. Solicit input and obtain stakeholder and SME approval/sign-off of training materials (following review cycles); make needed revisions based on stakeholder feedback

MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT
  • Create all supporting instructional materials; ensure materials are accurate and relevant for a seamless experience within the team and for learners (e.g., course outlines, pre/post work, presentation materials, handouts, communications, participant guides, job aids, leader guides, etc.)

ASSESSMENT
  • Use assessment tools & solicited feedback to provide recommendations for updating & improving content, delivery methods & overall training program effectiveness. Review assessments and content to ensure proper alignment to learning objectives

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Work independently and utilize project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner; escalate to senior management as necessary
  • Develop instructional design standards that work with the company's culture in order to maximize productivity

TRAIN CONTENT
  • Translate instructional design strategy into training content. Train effectively and efficiently. Facilitate/deliver all classes assigned to target audience using adult learning principles. Present content in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrate credibility at all times

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Retail Management or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years training experience. 2+ years instructional design experience. Past business experience in Planning, Allocation or Merchandising a strong plus
  • Ability to clearly design and develop trainings that result in high performance learning based knowledge checks and learning activities
  • Demonstrates critical thinking with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Project
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco collaborative tools including WebEx and Jabber
  • Adaptable, responsive to change; can easily adjust to changes in programs, content, and schedules
  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Demonstrated proficiency in elearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 suite and Adobe Captivate
  • Ability to travel occasionally to NJ
