Senior Designer, Handbags - Tommy Hilfiger

The Senior Designer is responsible for establishing and executing all design strategies for handbags. The Senior Designer is also responsible for ensuring the product line is brought to market in a timely and profitable manner, while also developing growth business and product strategy for both the Wholesale and Company Store businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Global Creative Director, Handbags and Accessories and design team to research and develop concept, color, fabrics, and designs
  • Design concepts based on merchandising plans
  • Review prototypes
  • Prepares design presentations for review meetings
  • Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar
  • Responsible for organizing relevant information (mill cards, files of Collections etc.)
  • Responsible for the management, selection and training of staff in conjunction with the global Creative Director
  • Set trend direction for color/concept and textile
  • Manage full design team and their timely execution of all phases of line development
  • Interface with Senior Sourcing team, Senior Merchandising team, merchants and buyers

Qualifications:
  • BA in Fashion Design
  • 7+ years design experience in handbags and accessory design
  • Strong experience with handbag design, a must
  • Strong product development experience
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop CS, MS Excel, and MS Office Suite
  • Experience working with overseas factories, agents and fabric and trim vendors
  • Advanced fabrication and technique application knowledge
  • Vertical experience a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work cross functionally, building strong relationships between various departments
  • Strong eye for trends and abreast on current industry news/developments
  • Ability to work longer hours, if needed, due to timelines and deliverables
  • Ability to travel, if needed, both domestically and internationally
  • Able to time manage responsibilities and be able to address tasks without direction, as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines
  • Detail oriented and resourceful traits necessary
  • Must be able to find best solutions and developing methods to improve efficiency
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and projects
