Design Assistant (Print & Graphics) – Calvin Klein

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Design Assistant – Print & Graphics support the design process for all Print & Graphics for both Men’s and Women’s Commercial and Runway, with oversight from the Design Director. Responsible for supporting with calendar management to ensure effective follow through and timely delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Reporting to the Design Director, Print & Graphics this role will be responsible for supporting the graphic / pattern area in designing all over prints, placed graphics, embroideries, badges & trims.
  • Assist with designing concept boards to communicate design and seasonal directions to the team
  • Importing purchased files, cleaning and placing into production repeat sizes
  • Re-colouring of core stripes, checks and allover patterns
  • Prepare artwork sheets with all relevant information needed for suppliers
  • Working in the PLM system, uploading colours & artworks
  • Working closely with the design team, helping with specific artwork requests
  • Taking a proactive role in keeping the design and pantone library updated
  • Researches concepts, materials and color trends.
  • Support the completion of Tech packs for every style including fabric, trim, details, etc.
  • Communicates technical design information to product development staff.
  • Communicate with production team in Italy on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:

1 – 2 years experience in design

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

Skills:

  • Refined taste level.
  • Knowledgeable Proficient in current pattern trends and ability to keep up-to-date with new emerging trends.
  • Knowledge of all fabrics, must know how to research and develop exclusive fabrics and prints.
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop skills.
  • Strong sketching skills.
  • Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish good relationships with key parties and department staff.
  • Positive solution oriented.
  • Highly adaptable, invigorated by change.
  • “A people person” that enjoys working with a close team.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Flexibility to deadline demands, seasonal schedules, weekend work, long hours.
