DevOps Engineer

This is your opportunity to make a big impact by joining a growing team working on developing an industry shaping product, FlashBlade. You are an engineer who loves to solve hard problems and build bulletproof systems software, especially real-time and/or highly concurrent systems.  You will be challenged with solving many unique problems at the forefront of technology and helping to deliver mission critical software.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be challenged with responsibilities including: 
• Managing a large infrastructure (server and networking) by creating scalable, reliable and consistent deployment patterns for an environment which is critical to the internal testing and development of Pure storage products
• Support a dedicated set of brilliant software and hardware engineers in a “startup-like” environment, being their advocate and liaison to corporate IT and other teams within Pure
• Bringing new ideas and innovations to the table, with a focus on continuous improvement and productivity of the team overall
• Responding reliably, participating in a periodic on-call rotation as needed
• Working autonomously, with minimal supervision and communicating early and often. We don’t value unnecessary meetings and micro-management – we value getting things done and done right!

What You Bring To The Team

• BSCS, 5+ years of solid Linux administration experience, preferably in a DevOps setting, or equivalent
• Proficient, hands-on experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting systems, including performance management and capacity planning 
• Solid virtualization experience, ex. VMWare, KVM, Citrix, Hyper-V, Docker
• Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
• Experience automating system deployments, installations, installations, package and patch management – ex. PXE, Kickstart, RPM or YUM)
• Strong scripting or development experience (ex. Python, Ruby, Perl, shell, etc.)
• Experience with storage subsystems (FC, iSCSI, SAN and NFS)
• Familiar with networking concepts and services (DNS/DHCP, NFS, SAMBA, NAT, SNMP, etc)
• Self motivated with a strong sense of ownership, “can-do” attitude, urgency and drive
• Knowledge of Windows Server and Mac OS administration is a plus
• Physical ability to lift and rack equipment (approx.. 30 lbs.)
• Ability to be on-call 24x7 at least one week per month
