Software Engineer- Lead (Scala)

 

Pulsepoint is looking for a Lead Software Architect with experience in building highly efficient, innovative and scalable SaaS web based applications and platforms. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining code across our Content Marketing suite of products that revolutionize the world of content marketing.

The right candidate will have a solid understanding of service oriented architecture, Functional and Object-Oriented Programming, unit testing, integration testing, design patterns and key web development technologies. Story uses a tech stack that includes the following technologies: Scala, Akka, Play, Java, PostgresSQL, MongoDB, Docker, React.js

Our platform will allow our customers to:

  • Manage their campaign across their distribution channels
  • Distribute their content at massive scale
  • Provide actionable insights and analytics
  • Model and recommend spend and budget management across distribution channels.

What you’ll do for PulsePoint:

  • Write and review code that is testable, maintainable and performance

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to a cross-functional technology team

  • Eloquently communicate with both technical and non-technical people in writing and in-person

  • Collaborate cross-department with Product, Account Management and Sales

  • Establish a development environment that allows for the regular deployment of high-quality software to our customers

  • Maintain a well-tested and high quality software codebase

The successful candidate is someone who:

  • Cares deeply about delivering high-quality products and creating exceptional user experiences
  • Can lead a team into creating and maintaining a well-tested and high quality software codebase
  • Has a solid understanding of service-oriented architectures and how to scale them
  • Has experience working with both OOP and FP paradigms, and knows how their ideas can fit in a codebase
  • Understands what makes engineering teams successful and what role a leader plays in that process
  • Asks questions and make suggestions related to architecture and product decisions
  • Is excited to learn about new technologies and tools that can be used to improve our current architecture

And has the following qualifications:

  • Has a track record of leading productive engineering teams for at least 3 years
  • Has been a software engineer and shipped consumer-facing products for at least 5 years
  • Has extensive experience with the JVM ecosystem (garbage collection, thread monitoring, etc.); preferably Scala, but Java is okay too
  • Is comfortable working in Linux- based environments
  • Understands JavaScript and front-end technologies like React.js, Angular.js, Vue.js or similar
  • Has production level knowledge of SQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLServer etc.
  • Has experience working with NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB 
  • Is familiar with SaaS and Cloud architectures, tools, and processes for maintaining them
  • Has experience building scalable distributed systems
