Vice President, Containers Product Owner

West Caldwell, NJ

Prudential's CTO organization is hiring a Containers Product Owner to drive the product vision and strategy, own the customer relationship and successfully lead a team toward the vision.

As a Product Owner, this person will represent the voice of the customer. They are empowered to make on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements, as well as manage and prioritize the Product Backlog to maximize business value. The successful candidate must have deep understanding and experience implementing Docker Container platforms with Kubernetes Orchestration, strong leadership skills, and ability to communicate their vision with clients and users.

Responsibilities:

  • Set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate 'the story' effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team
  • Own the end-to-end product strategy from inception and determine business value once solution enters production
  • Acts as the primary customer representative for Agile Pod(s) to connect customer and product
  • Ensure alignment of product features and stories, i.e., review, give feedback, and prioritize user stories in line with own vision
  • Continuously improve backlog with the team, ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized
  • Manages the product backlog and lead the epic / user story creation and development
  • Responsible for story prioritization, acceptance criteria definition and release planning
  • Works with the Scrum Master, Solution Engineers and Test Engineers to plan sprints
  • Works with Solution Architect and Technical Architect to understand and prioritize enabler work
  • Maintains new and existing customer relationships, informs customer of market conditions and updates them on technology disruption and economic trends
  • Attends planning sessions, stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint reviews to maintain close interaction with teams to ensure alignment on vision & value delivery
  • Identifies market/customer needs and ROI; Responsible for defining a strategic multi-year plan impacting product decision
  • Effectively Ensure customer-driven design considering user pain points & usability test results, using market & industry knowledge as well as continual research, to deliver a well-positioned product
  • Approve each feature and provide valuable feedback for the team
  • Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Master and organizational technology teams
  • Exercise strong decision-making mandate from executive group to own product end-to-end
  • Work with Tech lead to build a modular & reusable solution

Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of orchestration, containers, and Docker (essential - Docker/Kubernetes and desired - AWS ECS/EKS)
  • Modern DevOps tools and techniques including GitHub, CI/CD, Jenkins, BitBucket, Jira
  • A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, and distributed networks)
  • Strong problem solving skills with an equally strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • Experience in Agile Development, with Product Owner (or similar) experience preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, with ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs to tell a compelling story
  • Ability to work effectively across the organization and influence a diverse group of stakeholders including small to large teams of technical experts
  • Exhibits strategic thinking capabilities, problem solving skills, strong execution, and accountability for outcomes
  • Able to 'let go' of authority where needed, allowing team to thrive
  • Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas - loves and embraces change
  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team
