Dynatrace Engineer

Prudential Financial, Global Business and Technology Solutions, is pursuing a qualified Application Performance Monitoring Specialist. Candidate will be responsible for administration, support, design, development, and implementation of Dynatrace Application Performance Management (APM) solutions to business and technology needs. In addition, you will work with domain architects, other engineering and operations team members and project team members to fulfill business IT requirements by delivering effective solutions that are supportable, maintainable and cost effective focusing primarily on on-prem, cloud and hybrid business applications performance monitoring.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Support application monitoring for Java, .NET, NodeJS and other application architectures.
  • Monitor the responsiveness and availability of critical websites and web applications from the end-user perspective.
  • Manages application availability, performance, and pro-actively find performance bottlenecks.
  • Provide deep visibility into on-prem, cloud and hybrid applications performance.
  • Lead the efforts for ongoing SaaS based Dynatrace platform implementation.
  • Implement application monitoring, synthetic and real user monitoring solutions following best practices across the enterprise.
  • Works with other teams to integrate application's full infrastructure stack with APM tool to get an end-to-end visibility.
  • Collaborate with Business and IT to design and implement performance benchmarks for each application, and report results periodically.
  • Develop processes to monitor and alert for critical business transactions and applications to catch an issue before the impact.
  • Participates in the discussion of applications performance and outage incidents to provide solutions.
  • Coordinates and communicates applications performance management (APM) activities with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with all relevant IT resources to develop preventive measures (Problem Management).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance client service, efficiency and reliability.
  • Influence effective solutions in a matrixed organization.
  • Provide direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies.
  • Document information such as configuration, installation and user guides following process standards.
  • Develop and implement integration between Dynatrace, Splunk and ServiceNow for enhanced business value.
  • Perform data mining and analysis, utilizing various queries and reporting methods
  • Monitor the agent and server infrastructure for capacity planning and optimization


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT related field or minimum of 7 years of relevant recent experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in APM discipline, preferably focused on Dynatrace suite of products
  • Minimum 2 years or more hands-on experience with:
    • Application performance management technologies: server-side and real-user monitoring components
    • Synthetic monitoring tools including browser-based testing and load generators
    • Infrastructure monitoring tools: client, server, network, logs
    • Cloud technologies, with emphasis on AWS products and offerings
    • Web server technologies: Apache, IIS, NGINX
    • Application server technologies: Tomcat, WebSphere. ASP.NET
    • Operating systems: Windows, Linux, Unix
    • Custom scripting
    • Integrations using APIs and webhooks
    • Troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and data analytics in a large-scale organization
  • Working knowledge of:
    • DevOps toolchain and CI/CD tools
    • Compiled and object-oriented programming
    • Web development and web frameworks: ASP.NET, Angular, Spring
    • Middleware technologies and messaging frameworks such as SOAP, web services, REST
    • Relational (SQL) and non-relational databases (NoSQL)
    • CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Bamboo
    • Configuration management and orchestration tools: Chef, Puppet, Ansible, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, AWS CloudFormation
    • Containers (Docker, OCI, CoreOS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Mesos, AWS ECS)

  • Experience in integrating Dynatrace with ServiceNow, Splunk and other industry standard platforms
  • Understanding of Network Firewalls, Load-balancers, and complex network designs
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to manage their time against deliverables
  • ITIL v3 Foundation and/or advanced ITIL certifications is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of market trends
  • Industry certifications a plus
  • Ability to interact with and influence a wide range of employees, including technical support teams, application
  • developers, and system owners across the enterprise.
  • Ability to review functional requirements and determine the type of integration work that is required based on the
  • business needs.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem-solving techniques in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technology and integrating with diverse application systems.
