Associate Manager, Financial Reporting



The Prudential International Insurance (PII) Finance Segment supports the financial reporting and analysis of Prudential's insurance operations in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The team is seeking an Associate Manager of Financial Reporting to lead the accounting and reporting functions for joint ventures. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is focused on JV reporting, Accounting Policy issues, acquisitions, divestitures and other special projects. This candidate will have the opportunity to expand his/her skill set in a broad array of accounting and financial reporting areas and will also learn about Prudential International Insurance's market and products. The position requires significant interaction with local finance teams, senior management, Corporate Controllers, Finance Shared Services, Accounting Policy, Actuarial, Tax, and our internal and external auditors.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the US GAAP and management reporting of PII joint ventures in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, including but not limited to the review and analysis of Balance Sheet and Income Statement, management results review package and the review of required supplemental GAAP disclosures
  • Lead special projects with various workstreams as necessary, including but not limited to, acquisitions/dispositions of businesses, resolving complex issues related to joint venture deals and contractual arrangements in different countries and various other new business initiatives
  • Present to senior management and provide insight on current projects
  • Collaborate with multiple business partners from around the enterprise to understand different transactions and determine appropriate resolutions
  • Support the ongoing efforts to improve and enhance the financial reporting processes around joint ventures and other businesses
  • Provide accounting guidance and training to the local finance teams and PII internal business partners
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests from senior management and business partners

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Accounting/Finance.


  • Minimum 3-5 years of financial reporting analysis experience
  • CPA, CFA preferred or in progress, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of USGAAP accounting and reporting
  • Broad understanding and relevant experience with insurance accounting, Life and/or Annuity products, and actuarial modeling and valuation is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

  • Strong familiarity with the Prudential accounting systems (Oracle, FDW, Obero, GAAP Supplemental System, PFAP, etc.) is a plus
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a cross-functional team, management, external auditors and internal control partners
  • Effective analytical, problem solving and project management skills with demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from varied countries/cultures
  • Solid written and oral communication skills with proven success in influencing business decisions
  • Team player, self-starter and motivator, proactive, detail oriented and capable of working independently
  • Results focused, flexible, and capable of managing competing priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime required during peak reporting periods
